Rev. Barbara Lemon is a native of New York who firmly believes with God all things are possible. She was called by God and licensed to preach the gospel in 1977 and ordained on May 10, 1981. She has served as Minister of Christian Education, Assistant to the Pastor and Pastor of Hope Missionary Baptist Church for 10 years in Long Island, New York. As the church grew and developed under her administration, a new edifice was erected. Rev. Lemon has the distinction of being the first African American, as well as, the first female to ever serve as Chaplain for the Suffolk County Police Department in Long Island New York. Rev. Lemon was honored during National Women History Month by the town of Islip for outstanding achievement in the field of religion. She also received the Prestigious Community Service Award in recognition of distinguished and devoted service to the NAACP and community. She is also a life member of the NAACP.
Rev. Lemon has an undergraduate degree in nursing and is a Registered Professional Nurse. She also has a Master of Theology and Christian Education. She is married to her childhood sweetheart, Deacon Russell Lemon, and they have two beautiful daughters, LaTidra and Kenya.
Upon relocating to Virginia they united with First Baptist Church-Denbigh where she served as one of the Associate Ministers under the Rev. Ivan T. Harris. Whatever her hands found to do, she did it heartily as unto the Lord.
Rev. Lemon has been used by God to encourage and strengthen the body of Christ through Revivals, Seminars, and Retreats. She has participated in numerous conferences as a facilitator and conference preacher.
God moved once again and in 2001 she was called to pastor the Shiloh Baptist Church in Yorktown Virginia, making history once again. During her sixteen years as pastor the church has grown spiritually, numerically and financially. Many new ministries have been developed to equip the Saints of God for effective ministry and a new edifice has been erected to better serve the community. She has a passion for the unsaved and believes only the truth found in God’s word can set us free.
Rev. Lemon gives all glory to God for His favor and faithfulness in her life.

For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
